I found an angel at Arlington National Cemetery. A real one that saved us from a frustrating outing.
In a second attempt to find Robert G. Carter, a Civil War veteran who later won a Congressional Medal of Honor, we looked fruitlessly in Section 1 where the numbering can be frustrating. It happens in the older sections.
Just when we were able to give up, a lady comes by walking her dog. Asking who we were looking for, she puts the dog inside a fence at the house in the corner and spends 30 minutes before finally finding the grave a ways away.
Thanks Doreen Hallinan, whose husband Patrick turns out to be the cemetery’s superintendant. What luck coming across her and even more good fortune that she was so willing to help.
Just shows there are angels out there helping us.
