Shuttering the monuments – disgraceful

U.S. CapitolI normally don’t write about politics. They are thousands of others who specialize in hate mongering.

But I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.

Aside being angry over people who like me losing money (most tours revolve around the National Mall) but for barricading our national monuments.

Disgraceful.

The Lincoln Memorial is an international symbol. The World War II Memorial remembers 408,800 men and women who died saving the world from Nazis. The Vietnam Wall remembers 58,286 men and women who died.

Closed.

So are Smithsonians, the National Zoo and much more.

But the sight of yellow tape across the Lincoln steps makes my blood boil. This is our country, our symbols and no damn politician should block access to them. Never – ever!

If the government wants to say National Parks police can’t protect the monuments from vandals during the shutdown, I can point to the local police who are there by the barricades so make sure no one enters. Uh, can’t they protect the monuments since they’re there anyway?

This is complete madness. They’re outdoor venues that symbolize our country. Then again, maybe they sadly do.
